New residents may fill out a Water Turn On Request Form (PDF) and either mail, hand-carry, or fax it to the City of Morro Bay Water Department. Water service requested prior to 2 p.m. can be taken care of on the same day.
Identity Theft Prevention Program
Pursuant to the Federal Trade Commission's Red Flags Rule which is designed to protect utility account holder privacy and identity, the City is now required to have their water customers fill out the Identity Theft Protection Form (PDF) which allows customers who wish to call in to question their accounts and/or have associated customers call in on their behalf. You can fill out the form and either mail, hand-carry, or fax it to the City of Morro Bay Water Department.
To turn on water (payments can be made in the form of checks, cash, credit cards or money orders):
New residential tenant: $128.00, ($28 application fee and a $100 water deposit)
Established residential tenant: $100 (water deposit). The deposit will be credited towards the last and final bill.
New Owners: $28.00 (application fee). Application fee is one-time only and nonrefundable.
Morro Bay Garbage Service
Be advised that we forward your information to the Morro Bay Garbage Service and they will begin service immediately. We do suggest you contact the garbage company as there are several levels of service to choose from for garbage, recycling, and green waste collection. Call 805-543-0875 for further information.
Water Turn Off
You can request to have water services discontinued by calling the Water Department at (805) 772-6222 or come in to City Hall and speak with Utility Billing.
