Maintaining Your Public Safety and Quality of Life Services

In Morro Bay, we are committed to providing the quality of life and the small harbor town feel that our residents expect and deserve. 

That’s why the City recently conducted a Community Issues Survey to hear feedback from our residents on City service priorities, community needs and the things that make Morro Bay a special place to live. 

Morro Bay has our own, locally controlled Police and Fire Departments. 81% of respondents to the survey preferred maintaining our own local Police and Fire Departments than contracting these services to outside agencies. The City strives to maintain these locally controlled public safety services. 

Residents also identified local priorities that they would like the City to continue to address, including:

  • Maintaining 24/7 911 emergency response 
  • Maintaining 24/7 paramedic services 
  • Maintaining 24/7 police services
  • Maintaining fire protection services 
  • Keeping beaches, public areas and public restrooms safe and clean
  • Protecting Morro Bay’s financial stability 
  • Requiring public disclosure of all spending 
  • Keeping the harbor and waterfront clean and safe
