Harbor Patrol
Services Provided
The Harbor Patrol is on duty daily from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. and is on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They monitor VHF marine channels #12 and #16, and provide boater assistance, water emergency response, and code enforcement in a friendly professional manner. In addition to responding to vessel incidents within the Harbor, the Morro Bay Harbor Patrol provides rescue and safety assistance to other City departments and to outside local, state, and federal agencies when and where needed on a mutual aid basis.
The Morro Bay Harbor Patrol is known to have one of the most service-oriented and efficient Harbor Patrols of any port in California, and they take pride in being a part of the community with their services, education, and outreach.
The Morro Bay Harbor Patrol maintains all City-operated harbor facilities and equipment, including piers, docks, Harbor Patrol vessels and vehicles, and safety equipment at the highest level. The department staff is an energetic, close-knit team who jointly meet the challenges of the harbor and waterfront activities under their purview.
Training
This program is administered by the Morro Bay Harbor Patrol. Each summer, lifeguards are trained and equipped for guarding beach areas north of Morro Rock and for acting as Reserve Harbor Patrol Officers during the off-season.
