Emergency Preparedness

Be Prepared!
California is host to a variety of natural and man-made disasters. We never know when the next disaster will threaten our community. Morro Bay has been affected by many of these events and it is just a matter of time until disaster strikes again. It is, therefore, imperative for the City and all who live and work here be prepared at all times.

Responsibilities
The Fire Department manages the City’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and Disaster Preparedness budget for the City while working cooperatively with all other City departments. Fire personnel are responsible for:
  • Updating disaster plans
  • Delivering training programs and exercises
  • Maintaining functional relationships with county, regional, state, and federal agencies
  • Maintaining equipment and supplies for the EOC
