Overview & Responsibilities
The City Attorney is appointed by the City Council. His duties and responsibilities include:
Providing legal advice and services to the City Council, the city’s officials, departments, employees, boards, and commissions
Rendering legal advice and opinions; drafts and reviews contracts, ordinances, resolutions, and other documents as needed
Representing the city’s legal interests before judicial and administrative agencies and prosecutes violations of the Municipal Code
Managing the work of other outside special counsel
