Overview
The Morro Bay - Cayucos Wastewater Treatment Plant (MBCSD) is committed to consistently meeting and exceeding performance requirements and providing wastewater treatment on behalf of the communities of Morro Bay and Cayucos in a safe, environmentally sound, and cost effective manner.

The MBCSD is jointly owned by the City of Morro Bay and the Cayucos Sanitary District. The MBCSD currently serves a population of approximately 13,300 people, and had an average daily flow of 1.089 million gallons per day in 2007.

The MBCSD is designated as a Class III Biofiltration Plant by the Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB).

The plant operates under a modified discharge permit, NPDES Permit NO. CA0047881, that waives full secondary treatment standards for suspended solids (SS) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). For all other operations and constituents, full secondary treatment standards are maintained.
