[ARCHIVED] PRESS RELEASE: Night Road Work on South Bay Boulevard 8/13/23 - 8/18/23

CITY OF MORRO BAY NIGHT ROAD WORK ON SOUTH BAY BOULEVARD AUGUST 13-18, 2023

Press Release - Night Road Work on South Bay Boulevard

MORRO BAY, California – Roadway and shoulder construction work is scheduled to begin on the night of Sunday, August 13 continuing through Friday August 18, on South Bay Boulevard in the City of Morro Bay. The work area is between Quintana Road and the City Limits, approximately 0.5 miles south of State Park Road, between the Chorro Creek Bridge and the Quarry Trailhead Parking Lot. South Bay Boulevard will be closed in both directions from Quintana Road to Turri Road (near Los Osos) overnight between the hours of 7pm – 6am on August 13-16. For August 16-18, the road will be open with alternating one-way traffic maintained by flaggers between the hours of 7pm – 6am with delays. No work is scheduled to be performed during the daytime hours.

Emergency work resulting from the March storm that washed out the road shoulder in several locations will be performed as well as necessary pavement rehabilitation work that has been delayed from earlier in the year due to excessive rain. With the night road closures, the public should be prepared to plan extra travel time between Morro Bay and Los Osos as the other travel route is through San Luis Obispo.

Please follow all posted signage and directions given from flagging and other construction and City personnel in and near construction areas. Thank you for your patience and cooperation during this construction period. Questions may be directed to the City Engineer, Eric Riddiough in the Department of Public Works, Engineering Division at 805-772-6569.
