As part of Plan Morro Bay, the City’s General Plan/Local Coastal Program update project, the City is considering proposed zoning changes to its Short-Term Vacation Rental Ordinance. On May 15, 2018, the Planning Commission considered public input and General Plan Advisory Committee input on short-term vacation rentals. The Planning Commission recommendations have been incorporated into the updated draft Vacation Rental Ordinance and are available online for review at http://morrobayca.gov/DocumentCenter/View/11891/Draft-Short-Term-Rentals-w-PC-recommendations. These include draft requirements related to parking, transferability, and establishing new buffer distance requirements.
Additional public comment and input on the development of the Short-Term Vacation Rental Ordinance is welcome. On June 20, 2018, a community forum on this topic was hosted by Councilmembers Marlys McPherson and John Headding at the Morro Bay Community Center. Any changes to the Ordinance will be considered after the new year in 2019.
