Update: A second EIR Scoping Meeting for the Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at the Veteran's Memorial Building, 209 Surf Street, Morro Bay, CA 93442 from 4pm to 530pm (or as long as comments are received whichever is sooner).  This second meeting is intended to allow interested parties an additional opportunity to provide public comments on issues to be discussed in the EIR.
 
The meeting will be conducted in a hybrid format with participation options either in-person at the address above or virtually with the zoom link below:

The City has released a Notice of Preparation (NOP) of a Project Environmental Impact Report. The NOP has been prepared to notify agencies and interested parties that the City as Lead Agency is preparing a Project EIR pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) for the proposed 600-megawatt (MW) Morro Bay Battery Energy Storage System Project. The NOP also includes the Project Description and date of the first Scoping Meeting which was held virtually on June 21, 2022. The date, time, and format of the second meeting is noted above.

All public comments to the NOP are due no later than July 3, 2022. Details on how to attend the scoping meeting are above and information on how to submit public comments can be found in the NOP at:
